Dandelion (Taraxacum officinalis)Herbaceous perennial with a taproot. Acaulescent plant with basal rosette of leaves. Leafless flower stalks, hollow, under the baskets - with a net covering , up to 50 cm tall. Reed flowers, golden-yellow. Leaves in basal rosette long. All parts of the plant has a milky juice. It blooms in April and May. White balls appearing in place of yellow flowers consist of fruit - is achene with a tuft.
Roots contain triterpenoid compounds, sterols, inulin (24-40%), natural rubber (up 3%), asparagine, choline, organic acids, calcium and potassium salts, fatty oil, mucus resin.
