Couch grass (Agropyron repens)Perennial herb 30-150 cm tall. Rhizome horizontal, threadlike. Weed. Stems are erect. Leaves alternate, flat, linear, vaginal naked. The flowers are small, pale green. Fruits - seeded grains. It blooms in June and July, the fruits ripen in September.
The rhizomes contain starch, sugars, ascorbic acid, carotene, mucus, and the little-glycosides. The rhizome is used as a medicine, which is to be collected either in early spring or late fall. It has enveloping, diuretic, hemostatic, expectorant and diaphoretic action.
ARTHRITIS
Pour 4 tablespoons of dry, finely divided rhizomes couch grass 5 cups water, boil to reduce the volume by a quarter. Take 1 tablespoon 4-5 times a day.
Gastritis, colitis, enteritis, metabolic disorders
Take 5 teaspoons of crushed rhizomes of couch grass, and pour 1 cup of cold boiled water. Insist 12 hours strain the remaining mass of the rhizomes pour 1 cup boiling water, leave in a warm place 1 hour, drain, mix the two infusions. Take 1/2 cup 4 times a day before meals.Exudative diathesis
